Flowermate V5 Nano Vaporizer Review

Flowermate’s goal has been to provide consumers stable, affordable and better tasting vaporizers since 2014. There are currently 10 models in the Flowermate line, and the line continues to improve as the company actively listens to feedback and incorporates the needs of the customer into its new designs. This has won Flowermate a loyal following, and for good reason!

Flowermate’s latest creation, the V5 Nano, takes all that feedback and packs it into gorgeous, feature rich dual-use conduction vaporizer! Featuring a black ceramic heating chamber and rapid convection preheating technology, the V5 Nano delivers pure unadulterated taste and huge vapor through its borosilicate glass mouthpiece.

Features

One of the best features of this vaporizer is that it uses a removable 18560 battery with USB charging. Using the included battery, I got about 45 minutes of continuous vaping, or about 7-8 full sessions. Unlike fixed battery vapes, when this battery is done you can just swap it out for a fresh one, extending your vape time exponentially! Also, being an 18560 means you no longer have to worry about your internal battery deteriorating, and you can probably find a better battery out there which may improve your vaping time.

Measuring in at about 3.75” x 2” x 1, the Flowermate V5 Nano fits comfortably in your hand. It’s a beautiful heavy gauge metal package with a crystal-clear LCD screen embedded under the smoked glass edge panel. The V5 Nano feels like a solid, well-built vape, not a speck of plastic here! There are only 3 buttons: a power button and 2 selection buttons. The V5 Nano can be controlled in 1 degree increments over an astounding 340-degree range; from 104 – 446F. (40 – 230C).

Loading it up

The V5 Nano comes with an easy load funnel for filling the chamber, or you can opt to use the dosing capsule option. The Flowermate comes with 2 capsules: one for concentrates and one for flower. Due to their smaller size, dosing cups can be tricky for those with limited hand function. Luckily, they aren’t necessary as you can load your herb directly into the chamber. Using the dry herb capsule will make cleaning the device much easier, but I found you must crank up the temperature about 15-20 degrees to get the same effect as using just the chamber alone.

Vaping is pure pleasure with the Flowermate V5 Nano! At lower temperatures, the flavors are remarkably pure and delicious! Higher temps produce decent vapor as well! The unit heats from 0 to 420 degrees in about 1 minute and vibrates via haptic feedback when ready. There is an auto-shutoff timer set to 5 minutes just in case you forget to turn it off.

Cleaning

Cleaning the V5 Nano is a breeze thanks to the black ceramic chamber, and the mouthpiece disassembles for easy cleaning as well needing nothing more than some ISO and a cotton swab. The Flowermate V5 Nano comes with a 1-year warranty against manufactures defects. The device appears to be sufficiently rugged enough to survive almost anything your daily life can throw at it.

My only real gripe? The spring-loaded hatch on the bottom of the unit to access the battery & mouthpiece can be challenging to open. It’s not that bad when the mouthpiece is inside, as the spring tension on the mouthpiece helps to push open the hatch. However, opening that cover can be downright aggravating without that spring-assist. The pressure required to slide the lock back with your finger keeps the hatch pushed firmly shut. A more aggressive grip pattern would probably solve this.

**UPDATE** The slide lock does become easier to open the more it’s used,  it was initially pretty tight but has now since loosened enough to make opening much less of a hassle.

The Bottom Line

For a vaporizer selling for under $150, the Flowermate V5 Nano packs plenty of cool new upgraded features at a pretty budget price. The ceramic chamber with borosilicate glass mouthpiece delivers tasty vapor, and the temperature control has more range than a toaster oven! Solid construction and a replaceable 18560 battery make this a no brainer choice. Is this the best portable vaporizer on the market today? Probably not, but in this price range the Flowermate V5 Nano is a solid performer with little competition.
