Davinci IQ vaporizer review

These days its getting harder to stand out in the crowded field of conduction vaporizers that have flooded the market. Many of these vapes, regardless of their price range, deliver substandard performance making buyers remorse an increasingly common issue. Fortunately, manufacturers like Davinci have positioned themselves at the head of the pack by offering portable conduction vaporizers of exceptional quality!

The Davinci IQ

The IQ is the flagship vaporizer from Davinci that offers superior flavor and vapor production in an elegant, compact package that easily fits in the palm of your hand. Sporting top of the line features like a ceramic chamber & vapor path, a replaceable 18560 battery and Bluetooth App integration that allows for total temperature customization, the Davinci IQ is also one of the more expensive portable vaporizers at around $275.00. The question is, do these features justify the Davinci IQ’s price tag?

The Design

The Davinci IQ is a compact, yet solidly built portable vaporizer measuring just 1.65″ W x 3.54″ H x 0.94″ D and weighing only 5 ounces. The 51 LED light grid display embedded in the all metal casing does a great job of letting you know what your vaporizer is doing. The standard 3 button setup common on most vaporizers makes this intuitive and easy to use. The buttons can be used to cycle through the 4 Smart Path presets which can be configured with the App.

The IQ comes with 2 ceramic mouthpieces that you can use. One is flat and recessed in the unit, and the other protrudes about an inch like a little ceramic straw. This extended mouthpiece also doubles as a 10mm waterpipe adapter. Draw resistance is slightly less with the extended mouthpiece, but I prefer the flat one which help maintain the stealthiness of this vaporizer.

The IQ Oven

The oven on the Davinci IQ is on the bottom of the unit, like the PAX, which allows for a longer vapor path to aid in cooling. Loading the IQ is hassle free thanks to the highly polished feed ramp that surrounds the chamber. You will notice there is a small black ceramic ball attached to the oven lid; partially unscrewing this ball will adjust the size of the chamber, shrinking it for those times when you just need a little.

After experimenting with different grinds, I found that using the fine disk on the Kannastor GR8TR V2 produced the best results for my liking. Its a much finer grind that also produced the best vapor. This is just a personal preference; The IQ performed well with every grind I gave it.

Want some extra flavor with that?

Opening the top lid exposes the access hatch for the removeable 18560 battery on one side, and the ceramic “flavor chamber” on the other along with storage for a pick tool. This flavor chamber is reminiscent of the old pipes that a special chamber where you would put some buds inside to “soak up” some of the goodies in passing.

You can also put various herbs in the flavor chamber to enhance your cannabis experience like peppermint or chamomile. Just make sure that you don’t grind anything up too much, as it will impede airflow. Alternatively, you could enjoy vaping just what’s in the flavor chamber using an empty oven? Of course, you can also choose to simply leave the chamber empty.

“Set the controls for the heart of the sun”

The Davinci IQ offers precision temp control ranging from 250-430° F (121-221° C.). The buttons on the unit itself allow for quick selection between 4 Smart Path presets that can be configured with the free Bluetooth enabled app. It takes about 40 seconds for the IQ to fully heat up, reaching 230F in about 15 seconds.

The App gives the user full control in customizing the time/temperature curves in what Davinci calls “Smart Paths”. Basically, you can set the vaporizer to cycle through up to 3 different temperatures each for a specific amount of time allowing for total control of your session. These Smart Paths can be saved and assigned to the four presets on your IQ giving you supreme control without having to reopen the app!

The replaceable 181560 battery will give you between 1-1.5 hours of usage depending on temperature settings giving you 6-8 sessions on a charge. Charging the battery internally via micro-USB will take upwards of 3 hours, so having an external charger and/or spare batteries is a bonus.

The Bottom Line

To answer the previous question, I do believe that the performance and quality of the Davinci IQ make it worth the price of admission. The vapor quality is arguably the best you will find in a portable conduction vape to date, and the temperature configuration options are simply amazing. A removable battery insures this device can always be available.

The accessories that Davinci includes are also top-notch and include an extra tool as well as a very useful keychain-sized herbal storage container! The second mouthpiece doubles as a 10mm adapter for additional water cooling. Even the included USB charging cable is a nice, long premium-braided version!

Like all vaporizers, the IQ does tend to get warm during use but not overly hot. Its small stature means it can be easily concealed in your palm, allowing for super stealthy hits. Just about everything in the vapor path is cleanable with ISO and a cotton swab, and the mouthpiece & flavor chamber can be removed and soaked.

This total package makes the Davinci IQ stand out as one of the best conduction vaporizers on the planet. Get the IQ Vaporizer From DaVinci!

can you use concentrates with this or no? The pax 3 has a version with a concentrate adapter but I don’t see any adapter for the iq?

There is not a separate concentrate option with the IQ. You can put a small amount of concentrate in with your flower for a boost, but vaping concentrates alone is not recommended.
