Los Angeles health officials will inspect marijuana companies in the city, much as they do food-related businesses like restaurants.
Health and sanitation inspections of cannabis businesses were authorized this week in a vote of Los Angeles County leaders, the Daily Bulletin reported.
Here’s what you need to know:
- The inspections were requested by L.A. officials in advance of the Jan. 1 launch of California’s recreational market and newly regulated medical program.
- The City Council approved regulations earlier this month for the city’s new legal marijuana companies.
- Up to 15 other cities in L.A. county have plans to allow license recreational marijuana businesses.
- The county’s Office of Cannabis Management released proposed rules this week for adult-use businesses within its jurisdiction. The county’s Board of Supervisors are expected to approve the rules early next year.
