LED grow lights have greatly improved over the past few years, and have rapidly become viable alternatives to HPS/HID lighting. Advancements in LED technology, like used in the Spider Farmer SE3000 have given us cheaper and better lighting options that are on par with the grow lights of old, and are helping to usher in a new wave of first-time home growers.
For the first time, not only are quality grow lights affordable by us mere mortals, but thanks to LED lights the all-important cost of using them has also become manageable. LED lights use far less electricity than HPS and also run much cooler, which can save you bundles on your electricity bill.
Thanks to the veritable flood of LED grow lights now available, choosing the best lights to fit both your needs and your budget is becoming more and more difficult. The vendors of grow lights all have tons of flashy pictures, charts and graphs in an effort to sway your purchase, so how exactly do you choose?
Well, outside of buying them all and seeing for yourself (which is VERY costly, let me tell you!), UNBIASED cannabis accessory reviews like this one are one of the best tools that you can use. Today we are putting the SE3000 LED Grow light from Spider Farmer review to the test to see if it deserves a spot in your indoor farm.
Spider Farmer SE3000 – The Company
While a brand-new company may have a great product, whether or not they will still exist in 5 years is unknown. Lifetime warranties mean nothing if the company goes out of business. That’s why longevity is a crucial factor in choosing a company. Spider Farmer has been manufacturing LED grow lights since 2009, so there’s a pretty good chance they will be around for a bit more.
Spider Farmer designs all their own lights, so there is never going to be an issue with unknown bumps in quality due to a supplier change. They have warehouses and service center/distributors in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany. This means that you will not have to deal with long transit wait times if repairs or replacements are ever needed.
This all means nothing if the product itself is not very good though, does it? It’s time to delve into the lights themselves and truly see if they are worth it.
Spider Farmer Review – Grow Lights
Spider Farmer offers 2 different lines of grow lights. The SF series of grow lights are a budget friendly integrated “Quantum Board” style of LED grow light, and the SE Series of grow lights have separate drivers and utilize a multi-bar design to better improve light distribution. While the SF series lights are good, we are going to discuss the SE series here, as they offer so much more.

SE 3000 LED Grow Light
The Design
The first thing that you will notice about the SE 3000 grow light is the design. Rather than putting all the LEDs onto a single PCB board like the SF series, the SE 3000’s lights are evenly spread out across 4 separate light bars. The 4-bar design provides more even canopy coverage, especially to the outer edges of cultivation area.
This design also facilitates a much more even disbursement of light around the edges, which is where most lights lose over half their strength. While there is still a loss of light, it is much less than what you experience with standard flat panel boards.
This spaced-out design has another advantage: heat dissipation. The space between the bars allows for rapid air-cooling. If you ever find yourself needing less light than usual, the individual light bars can be removed to better suit your illumination needs.
The LEDs
The LEDs themselves are some of the best that money can buy. The Spider Farmer SE3000 uses 896 SAMSUNG LM301 B diodes, which are revered throughout the world. Spider Farmer SE3000 Led grow lights draw 300 watts with 822.82umol/s, achieving an impressive PPE of 2.75 umol/J, coverage for 3’x3′ of high-yielding full-cycle growth.
The lights offer full spectrum (380-410nm, 660-665nm, 730-740nm, 2800-3000K,4800-5000K) and are perfect for all stages of your grow, from veg to bloom. Just to be safe, the lights are also fully waterproof. The entire package draws only 300 watts.
The Driver
Spider Farmer decided to also equip the Spider Farmer SE3000 with a passively cooled (fanless) Mean Well Driver, known for being one of the most high-quality LED Drivers available on the market. The driver is detachable and features a 6-foot cord in case you wish to locate it away from the light itself. On the driver is a dimming switch which allows you to vary the brightness from 10-100%.
If you have a larger setup than just a single grow tent, you will also appreciate that the Spider Farmer SE3000 is fully networkable. The daisy-chain function allows you to connect up to 15 Spider Farmer SE3000 LED growing lights. You can even dim multiple lights simultaneously! This makes the Spider Farmer SE3000 an excellent choice for commercial or large scale grows.
Certifications and Warranty
The Spider Farmer SE3000 is DLC, CE and ETL certified and has passed strict performance, safety and reliability standards. The LEDs have a typical service life of 50,000 hours (almost 6 years!), which means that you will not be needing to replace your lights very soon. If something does go wrong, the Spider Farmer SE3000 is backed by a 5-year warranty. You can read the full warranty information on their website.
The Downsides
There are not too many negatives on the spider farmer se3000 to report on here, but there are a couple. The manual contains instructions for all the light models, so you have to first find which instructions are for you. (Not really an issue). For being a Chinese company, the English translations in the manual are far better than most and easy to figure out, but they are basic and lack detail in some areas.
For example, the booklet says to “Connect the power cord to each light bar” and shows a graphic of pushing the 2 wire pieces together. It fails to mention that they are actually twist-lock connectors, and simply pushing them together does not work.
This was honestly just a minor annoyance for me and I did not have any issues figuring it out; I put the light together without looking at the instructions in under 10 minutes. However, not everyone is technically inclined and some people must have very clear directions. Hopefully Spider Farmer will choose to rectify this, it’s a pretty easy fix.

The Warranty
The warranty is not the best, but definitely not the worst I have seen. “The light can be returned or replaced within 30 days after delivery, in the precondition of non-artificial damage. 90 days ALL FREE warranty. Free components, repairing, and service can be provided within 3 months after delivery. 5 years of free components can be provided. 3 month -1 year: Free components, shipping fees of returning. Buyer needs pay 1-way shipping fees and repair fees. 1 year – 5 years: Free components. Buyer needs pay 2-way shipping fees and repairing fees.”
I would have liked to see at least a 1 year full replacement warranty. Other than that, there are no glaring issues with this light that would keep me from buying it again. Thankfully all the components are super high quality so I don’t expect any issues.

Overall
Spider Farmer has managed to put together a superior grow light using only top-tier components for a very competitive price. The Spider Farmer SE3000 is the perfect companion to the Spider Farmer 3’x3’x6′ Indoor Grow Tent. 3×3 is too small for you? Check out the SE5000 and SE7000 grow lights, they can easily manage up to a 5×5 tent. If your grow is a bit larger than a tent, the ability to daisy-chain the lights is a great feature.
In our tests, we are very happy with both the quality of the manufacturing and the light output. This is the best grow light for cannabis or anything else you want to see flourish. We love the modular design and the ability to remote mount the driver on the outside of the tent.
Also, don’t forget that your plants need to breathe! We suggest using the Spider Farmer Grow Tent Ventilation Kit. It comes with a 6 Inch 350 CFM Inline Duct Fan with Temperature Humidity Controller, a Carbon Filter to keep those pesky odors at bay, and 32 Feet of Ducting to tie it all together.

So if I read this right you dont have to use all 4 bars? Like you can use only 2 for a small tent? Because I have 2 tents one small for starting and a bigger one for when they get bigger. I use 2 diff lights but my big one crapped out so I need a new one. Can I use the same light and use half the light for the seeds tent and switch to the big tent after? Do I make since?
I understand what you are saying, and yes you can use the light as you are describing!
Do these use real samsung leds? I bought lights from another vendor and they were definitely fake but claimed to be real. How can I be sure before I buy it?
Hi Mark. That’s an honest question, especially if you have been burned in the past. The best way to be absolutely certain that a company is using real Samsung LEDs is to check the Samsung website. They have a page that lists their Official Partners. You can find that here:

What size light would I use for my 5×5 tent? Can I use this? I have a shit light and I want a new one and black friday sales are starting. Thx!
Hello Jay, for a 5×5 tent the recommended light would be the SE7000 Commercial LED Grow Light
Does spider farmer make any lights with the Samsung lm301h leds?
I am not sure, the best people to ask this question to would be Spider Farmer.
