With 2021 just around the corner, we decided to predict what the best portable vaporizers will be in 2021 based on their strong showings in 2020. Many of these portable vaporizers have been in the top 10 for quite a few years with no real competition.
The term “dry herb vaporizer” gets tossed around a lot (not always accurately, for what it’s worth), so in case you need a clarification: a dry herb vape is one that’s intended to be used only with dry herbs.
However, with new technology emerging every day, there may be some portable vapes on this top 21 list that you have not thought of! Without further ado, we bring you our choices for Best Portable Vaporizers of 2021.
Ghost MV1 Vape – $175
The Ghost MV1 portable convection vaporizer is an engineering masterpiece that provides hands down the best and most flavorful vapor you will ever get out of a portable vape! By using true convection technology, your precious herb never sits there baking away if your attentions are diverted elsewhere.
The Ghost uses an oval ceramic crucible complete with a matching stainless-steel lid that houses approximately 0.12g of herb. Although the chamber size may appear small to some, thanks to the unique extraction process of convection vaping the Ghost MV1 easily doubles or triples the extraction efficiency of standard conduction vapes.
Storz & Bickel Mighty – $278
Storz & Bickel are one of the best-known brands in the vaping business, with a long track record of making iconic vapes like the Volcano and the Craft. For the ultimate in portable vaping, however, the Mighty takes the crown.
Built like a tank and capable of producing some of the tastiest vapor of any device on the market, the Mighty has few equals anywhere in the world. It’s compatible with both dry herbs and concentrates, with precision temperature controls that let you customize each session to your exact preferences. The German engineers who built the Mighty knew what they were doing—and legions of vapers have been thrilled with the results.
Davinci IQ2 – $274.99
DaVinci’s Legacy of Exceptionally Clean Vaporizers Continues
Like the other DaVinci vaporizers, the IQ2 is built with purity in mind with medical-grade components. No metal or plastic parts touch your herb or contaminate the flavor of your vapor. The airtight, all ceramic air path is engineered with zirconia and a glass-lined oven to ensure unprecedented purity and flavor.
Using the IQ2’s air flow dial, adjust your device for easier draws and enjoy vapor that is 50% cooler than other vaporizers. Reduce your draw resistance and experience bigger, denser vapor.
Firefly 2+ – $249.95
The Firefly 2+ has been heralded as one of the best portable vaporizers on the market—and this praise isn’t coming from random bloggers, but established media outlets like Forbes and Wirecutter (aka the product review site of the New York Times). Small, powerful, and stylish, the Firefly 2+ has certainly made a splash ever since it was released.
The first thing most people notice about the Firefly 2+ is the aesthetics. The sleek, rounded body of the device looks more like an external power bank or a high-end car key than a vaporizer (which is a mark in the Firefly 2+’s favor, especially for people who like vaping in public). But open it up and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see that equal attention was paid to the Firefly 2+’s functionality, with a ceramic heating chamber and isolated airpath for premium quality vapor.
Arizer Solo II – $174.99
When you see someone packing an Arizer Solo 2, it’s obvious this isn’t your run-of-the-mill vaporizer. With a long glass cylindrical tube jutting out of the top, it looks more like some kind of steampunk Sherlock Holmesian pipe than the cookie-cutter vapes you’re used to seeing in your neighborhood shop. It’s intriguing, to be sure, especially when you watch the person exhale a voluminous cloud of vapor. Looks fun, but there’s one question on your mind:
The term “dry herb vaporizer” gets tossed around a lot (not always accurately, for what it’s worth), so in case you need a clarification: a dry herb vape is one that’s intended to be used only with dry herbs. That’s a descriptor that fits the Arizer Solo 2 perfectly—in other words, it’s awesome for flower, not so much with wax or shatter or other concentrates. You can give it a try, of course, but the results probably won’t blow your socks off. The Arizer Solo 2 was built to appeal to flowerheads, plain and simple.
PAX 3 – $249
PAX has been one of the world’s top vape manufacturers for years, and with the PAX 3 they’ve outdone themselves: custom temperature controls with dynamic vaping modes, an ultra-lightweight metal body, a surprisingly functional smartphone app, and many other high-end features. The biggest shocker, though, might be the price tag: the PAX 3 isn’t exactly a budget device, but it does cost a lot less than you might expect.
AirVape X – $179.99
There’s a reason that smartphones are getting slimmer; no one has the room to carry around chunky electronics anymore. We want something that slips into our pocket and is easy to carry about while still offering power and performance. So what happens when you hold your portable vaporizer up to these standards? Well, you’ll find that one of the few vapes that hold up is the Airvape X.
The Airvape X from Apollo is a slimline portable vaporizer that is thin and compact enough to fit into any pocket. It has a large ceramic dry herb chamber, clear LED temperature display, a magnetically locked chamber lit, and a super-fast heat up time. This vape is a must have if you want a device that won’t weigh you down.
Hydrology9 Vaporizer – $199
The Hydrology 9 Vaporizer from the Cloudious 9 labs is a complete game changer when it comes to vaping dried products. They have taken everything that you thought you knew about the way portable vapes work and they threw it out of the window so that they could bring us something totally new. What they have done is blowing us and everyone else away right now with it’s superior performance and excellent smoothness and vape flavor.
When it comes to actually heating your dried products, the Hydrology 9 vape works in a similar way to many conduction vaporizers, except that it has a built-in water cooling system that reduces the temperature of the vapor and further improves the comfort and pleasure experienced when using it. The Hydrology 9 wasn’t just the result of some lightbulb moment of inspiration but is in fact the result of countless design changes and revisions, each one designed to improve the quality, consistency and performance of the Hydrology 9.
Boundless CFX – $179
Boundless have amazed us with how much quality they have packed into such a reasonably priced device with the CFX. Once we opened the stylish box it comes in, plugged it in and watched its awesome screen light up we knew this vape would be changing the American vaping scene forever!
It was obvious that Boundless had achieved something special with the CFX and that it would be solidifying its position in the American market. This is possibly one of the best vaporizers for sale at the moment.
One thing that stands out for us is how similar it looks to the Mighty and Crafty, but the real plus is that’s a hundred dollars cheaper! Now don’t be fooled into thinking that that means it’s a hundred dollars worse. That’s just not the case. It may be small but the Boundless CFX vaporizer is a powerhouse of quality.
This vaporizer has a lot of things going for it including a fantastically rugged design that feels great in your hand. This isn’t the kind of vaporizer that you won’t have to worry bumping off hard surfaces. It’s got a great heat-up time and while the (mostly) conduction heating system isn’t the best for stopping mid-session, the taste is pretty consistent.
Magic Flight Launch Box – $89.99
The Magic Flight Launch Box Vaporizer has quickly become the most popular Portable Vaporizer on the market today. Instead of using unreliable heat sources like butane, the Magic Flight Launch Box utilizes alkaline batteries for truly a spectacular vaporizing experience. This is a completely portable unit no cords or plugs. This compact Vape is small enough to fit inside the palm of your hand or conveniently inside your pocket. The MFLB vaporizer utilizes an ultra-fast heating element that can reach vaporizing temperatures within 5 seconds. No other Vaporizer can claim that. Made from handcrafted wood, the Magic Flight Launch Box does not contain any plastic or metals and was built from only the highest-quality components and materials. This ensures that the vapor produced by this device is fresh, rich and flavorful.
Magic Flight Maud-Dib – $128.99
The Muad-Dib (pronounced maw-deeb) Concentrate Box contains everything you need to easily, quickly, and safely vaporize concentrates, oils, and herbal extracts*. No torch is required! A tiny, pin-head-sized amount is all you need for a sensational experience. The Muad-Dib uses the same simple, patented technology as the Dry Herb Launch Box, but with a smaller and user-replaceable screen design that vaporizes concentrates in as little as three seconds. The Muad-Dib uses the same batteries as the Launch Box, but drastically improves on battery life, allowing you more than fifty uses on a single charge. It also features a brushed-brass lid, an optical-grade lens, and a brass bowl-insert that makes cleaning a snap. Due to the high heat produced by this vaporizer, a 1.5 ft. black, silicone draw whip with brass ends is included in place of a draw stem to help cool the vapor stream. The Muad-Dib is available in your choice of two styles: Noir and Walnut.
Storz & Bickel Crafty – $279
Storz & Bickel is one of the top-selling vape brands in the world—they’re responsible for such iconic creations as the Volcano desktop vaporizer (regarded by many as the best vaporizer in the world, hands down) and the Mighty portable vape. The brand built its reputation on making bigger and better vapes than anyone else, but now they’ve turned their attention to a (literally) smaller endeavor—the Crafty+ dual use portable vaporizer.
The Crafty+ isn’t quite as small as your typical vape pen, but it’s a good deal more compact than most of Storz & Bickel’s other offerings. It still features the German engineering and attention to detail that’s made the brand famous, but in a much smaller package. Customizable temperature controls, a rugged design, and top-notch vapor quality are just a few of the Crafty+’s calling cards.
Storz & Bickel Plenty – $248
The Plenty is a handheld vaporizer from German vape icons Storz & Bickel. These vaporizer visionaries are famous for their flagship vape, the Volcano and its incredible vapor quality.

Its stainless steel cooling cool ensures that each hit is as cool and smooth as possible.

The Black Mamba is a portable vaporizer with precise and even heating, even with a conduction oven. The unique shape and design of this vaporizer allows for a large ceramic chamber that holds about 0.65g of material. This vaporizer also features an all-glass vapor path and a food grade glass mouthpiece as well as an amazing 20 second heat up time and 5 pre-set temperatures.
Davinci MIQRO – $119
DaVinci is one of the world’s top selling vape brands, and over the years they’ve developed a reputation that’s the envy of many competitors. DaVinci vapes are typically well-made with rugged metal bodies, highly advanced temperature controls, and an ideal mix of cool new features and general usability. With the DaVinci MIQRO, they’ve bundled all that goodness into their smallest package ever.
If you’re a devotee of the vape world, you might notice that the DaVinci MIQRO bears a certain resemblance to other DaVinci vapes, at least in pictures—when you hold it in your hand, it doesn’t take long to realize that it’s 33% smaller than its big brother, the IQ (widely recognized as one of the best portable vaporizers in the world). Despite these diminutive dimensions, the MIQRO packs much of the same power into its ultra-slim frame.
Arizer ArGo – $164.99
Arizer have broken from tradition with their newest creation, the Arizer Go – “ArGo”. As one of the most compact vaporizers available on the market right now, the ArGo proves that you don’t have to sacrifice vapor quality for portability.
As the name suggests, the ArGo is built for people who are always on the move. With this in mind, portability was the main focus when it came to the design. The ArGo is much more compact than previous Arizer models, while also being a notable departure from the standard cylindrical body design of their portable devices. Somehow, Arizer have managed to squeeze their signature technology and great vapor production into a space of just 3.2” x 2.0” x .94” without sacrificing on functionality. Capable of hiding in the palm of your hand, the ArGo is one of the stealthiest vaporizers available on the market right now.

Thanks for this! Now i have my Christmas shopping list
You are welcome!
Why would you spend 300 on a vape when u can get 1 for 50?
I have a cheap ATX vape it burns the weed and makes ash. Also have a Ghost and is day and night better. No ash at all just nice toasted weed. Taste is difference between tasting the flavors and licking an ashtray
As Jeff pointed out, The more expensive vaporizers tend to have a greater level of control in regards to temperature.
Typically the more inexpensive vaporizers are conduction vapes, so they cause combustion (burning).
The more expensive models are typically convection vaporizers. Convection vaporizers pass hot air through your flower in order to release the cannabinoids instead of burning.
Convection vaporizers give you much better flavor versus conduction vapes, and also produces a lot less odor (so its a bit stealthier). The added benefit is your house won’t smell like weed so much.
I used to feel the same way as you until I wasted my money on several cheap vapes under 100 until I finally pulled the trigger and got a Mighty. Its night and day compared to the cheaper devices and you get what you pay for
If you had to choose the best under $100 which would you choose for a gift for a casual smoker new to vaping? Thanks!
I’m a huge fan of the tried and true Magic Flight Launch Box myself, I think once you get used to it, it’s a fantastic vape!
For a total newbie though, I would probably recommend the XVape Starry v3. It is a little easier to use, has adjustable temperature controls, and produces great flavored vapor as well.
Either way you can’t go wrong!
I have a starry and it is a good vape for that price.I paid more for mine this is a good deal
